About Me

You may be wondering… who in the world is Kim, and what exactly did she try, and yes, why should I care (we all know you wondered it)? Well, read the posts and you’ll find out. 🙂 Or I’ll give you a quick glimpse below.

Who is Kim:

Me. I’m Kim. Hi! 🙂 I’m a wife of 20+ years, a mom to 7 adult kiddos (we are a blended family, so they are his, mine, and ours), a daughter to two amazing parents, sister to my sister, sister-in-law, grandmother (MeeMee to four so far), cousin, and friend. I’m starting this blog in the same year I turn 50.

Professionally, I’m a management consultant who specializes in Safety in the Oil & Gas Industry, and DOT Consultant for Transportation Companies.

Personally, I’m a bit of a goofball, an adventurer, and lover of learning all of the things.

What am I trying?

Everything. Seriously, it’s a little bit of everything. I have boards upon boards on Pinterest, with nearly 13,000 pins. I love to learn. I may want to learn how to do something, and then never really use it again. I was recently talking with my husband and one of my best friends separately, and both agreed I should start sharing what I learn. I’m a prolific list-maker, reader, and writer, but I’ve also started playing with YouTube. So I decided I would make a blog/vlog documenting me trying these different things.

One day it could be a “life hack”. I’ve tried peeling hard-boiled eggs in a cup/glass, and I’ll never do it any other way. I’ll show you why. It may be learning a bit about homesteading, making my own laundry detergent or soap, learning to grow a garden, or creating a solar panel system for our home. I may or may not have help with some of these things. Another day, it may be bringing you along for the ride while I re-learn to sew, or crochet, or learn to knit. I have an interest in learning how to do pottery, woodburning, woodworking and more. There will eventually be posts on how to do all of that and more. If I learn tips and tricks of repairing drywall cracks or holes, I’ll share that, or tips to make painting your home easier. Or maybe I’ll be learning macrame, or creating a dreamweaver (because I love them).

When:

Anytime. I’ll try to post new content each week, but it could be a couple of weeks between some, or I could try something new 3 times in one week. I’ll try to space things out and keep to a regular schedule, adjusting when needed.

How:

Sometimes I prefer to read, and sometimes I prefer videos, so my intent is to create step-by-step instructions on both mediums. Writing will be posted here, and/or I may provide links to an article I post somewhere else.

When possible, I’ll share links to where to purchase the items I use, or something similar. I’ll give you a disclosure now that these may be affiliate links where appropriate, so that if you decide to purchase, I’ll earn a little income on that purchase. But I’ll always give you the good, the bad, and the ugly as I see it. You’ll never pay more for clicking through my link, and if my affiliate status allows me to pass along coupons or other savings, I’ll always do that as well.

If there’s something you would like to see me try, drop me a comment on one of my posts, or drop me an email. I’m always looking to add to my lists! 🙂

I hope you enjoy this site as I continue to build it. As always, please join me at any of my social media sites, subscribe to my YouTube channel and press the bell to be notified as new videos drop, and let me know what you’d like to see more of! This site is for me to document what I try, my wins and fails, but it’s also for you. I hope that I’ll inspire you to try something new as well!

Where:

Right here. On my YouTube Channel, Kim Tried, on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok… and wherever else I find in the future.

Why?:

Because I love to learn, and thought you might enjoy coming along for the ride. Grab a cup of coffee, tea, soda, wine, beer, or your favorite drink of any kind, and join me as I try the next thing on my list. 🙂
